Personalised energy advice to residents begins at the Ethelred estate

31 January 2011

Now that refurbishment works are near completion, residents on the Ethelred estate are receiving free, detailed energy surveys for their homes. Qualified energy advisors are currently visiting each home to offer help and advice, such as programming heating controls, saving energy with appliances and understanding fuel bills. Each home is receiving a free Powerdown to prevent TVs from being left on stand-by. The energy advice has so far been met with hugely positive reactions.

Carbon Descent is also examining the effect of this advice by installing monitoring equipment in selected residences. The equipment will chart electricity consumption and temperature data, allowing us to chart the projects success accurately over the upcoming months.

"The audits and the final reports from Carbon Descent were spot on and have given businesses a real road map to follow if they want to reduce their energy consumption over the next year."
