Climate Change Walks
As part of London Sustainability Week 2007, Carbon Descent organised a series of free walks on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust. The walks were funded by Defra and provided information about the local area to residents, to enable the community to make the most of the surroundings and protect and improve where people live.
The walks were organised in two contrasting areas of London: the urban landscape of the South Bank, and the green areas in and around Brixton. Each walk visited specific buildings and sites chosen to enable discussion of climate change from the dual perspectives of raising awareness of the threat and showing positive examples of good practice. Because the walks had a large element of interactivity, we fostered a greater feeling of involvement with this vibrant place. The Brixton walks are now a part of the ongoing Transition Town Brixton project.
