Carbon Descent goes to Brazil

10 February 2012

Chris Dunham travelled to Brazil with Andy Deacon from the Energy Saving Trust to deliver a workshop for the Brazilian Government’s Energy Planning Agency and the state controlled electricity company Eletrobras. Chris and Andy gave a presentation summarising a joint report detailing the development of UK residential sector energy efficiency policy. This was followed a by discussion as to how Brazil might draw on UK experience to develop policies for the emerging National Energy Efficiency Plan. A second report by Carbon Descent and EST will provide recommendations as to how this might be done. Brazil’s rapidly growing economy is now the sixth largest in the world and the Brazilian National Energy Plan forecasts that, unabated, energy demand will double by 2030.

"The audits and the final reports from Carbon Descent were spot on and have given businesses a real road map to follow if they want to reduce their energy consumption over the next year."
